# What is Freight/LTL?

LTL stands for Less Than Truckload, which means that the shipment does not entirely fill a truck. It's a freight shipping method suitable for the transportation of relatively small, heavy items. When you order an item that is shipped via LTL Freight, it will be transported on a truck with other shipments. It’s a cost-effective method for shipping bulky or heavy items but isn't used for smaller parcels that can be handled by traditional parcel delivery services.

LTL Freight shipments often include additional services, such as liftgate service at pickup and delivery, residential delivery, inside delivery, and notification/appointment prior to delivery.
